HelpMe! HelpMe!-Blog Post #11 “HelpMe! HelpMe! visits Yaxcopoil and San Ignacio!”

Our time here in Uaymitun is almost at an end… we leave for Merida tomorrow and fly home on Thursday! Unless an extra special adventure presents itself, this will be HelpMe! HelpMe!’s last blog post from Mexico!

One day, Nana told Papa that he was looking a bit shaggy, so we went into Chicxulub to get his hair cut!

Gaby, Papa and me!

On another day, Papa took us to a real fancy, schmancy place for lunch called the Hacienda X’Canatun. Papa said it was time I appreciated some of the finer things in life… as long as I didn’t make a scene!

Nana had some yummy camarones (shrimp)…
… but Papa was really daring and had pollo (chicken), hee hee!
My new best friends, Terri and Mat, came with us too!

Later that day we visited a really old hacienda called Yaxcopoil! It was really neat ‘cuz things were left as they were a 100 years ago!

This is the front of the hacienda… Papa said I had to stay out ‘cuz things were breakable inside. 🙁
Look Papa! Look! a horse!
… and another horse!
I liked the pretty gates to the hacienda!

On our way home, we went into Merida to the Liverpool Mall! I like malls!

Me at the Liverpool mall
It’s so big they even had a skating rink! Papa said they didn’t have skates in my size so we couldn’t skate!
Papa said that now that he’s retired, he’d like to be a Zamboni driver!
Mat wanted a Carl’s Jr burger really bad… but Terri said no!
We all had nice American style food at a Chili’s in the mall!

Yesterday, we all went to visit the San Ignacio Cenote in Chochola!

Nana’s already in, but there wasn’t a life preserver in my size! 🙁
Here we all are after swimming!
Papa!!! I’m upside down! HelpMe! HelpMe!
While they all had some lunch in a little palapa, I went to see the little animal farm with pigs and goats…
… and chickens!

When we got back to our house in Uaymitun last night, Papa took me down to the beach to see the sunset!

What a gorgeous sight!!!

Thanks for watching my first blog… I really enjoyed seeing and doing so many things and meeting so many wonderful people here in Uaymitun, Yucatan, Mexico!

Hasta luego!

Kirsty,

I hope you’ve enjoyed HelpMe! HelpMe!’s Excellent Mexican Adventure! She’ll be waiting for you to find her the next time you’re over to our house!

HelpMe! HelpMe!-Blog Post #10 “HelpMe! HelpMe! explores Mayapan and more!”

After much urging, HelpMe! HelpMe! has finally been able to spare time away from her beach chair to update her blog!

-papa

Nana and Papa try to take me everywhere they go! One day we went to see the Mayan ruins at Mayapan.

Nana and I at the entrance!
Holy Kamoly! look at the size of Kukulkan’s Castle!
Papa says that’s the Crematorium… sounds scary!
… and that’s the Observatory!
HelpMe! HelpMe! I’m about to be eaten by Chac the rain god! Hee! Hee!
Papa! This has too many stairs… I need help!
Wow… look at the view!

We had lunch a cool place called Na Lu’Um which Papa says is Mayan for ‘little cats should be thankful and obedient’!

Papa wouldn’t share his X’Catik soup with me! 🙁
But Nana shared her camarone’s (shrimp)

On another day, Nana and Papa and their friends Dave and Deb took me into Merida.

While they had lunch at a neat place…
… called Amaro…
… I met three new artsy Mexican friends!

… after lunch we visited the big square in downtown Merida near the cathedral!

When Papa wasn’t looking, Nana let me slide down the banister rail in the Governor’s Palace!
We went on a carriage ride… this is me with my amigo Jorge!

We stopped a large monument… I don’t know what it is but Papa does!
Dave and Deb shared their cappuccino with me! Yumm!
HelpMe! HelpMe! he’s going to put me in the oven!
the chocolate shop lady was nice to me!
so much chocolate and so little time!
at the end of the night… Papa let me play with the band!

What a big day that was… time for bed!

HelpMe! HelpMe!-Blog Post #9 “HelpMe! HelpMe! visits two different worlds!”

Dear Kirsty Wursty,

Another HelpMe! HelpMe! post to her blog…

Nana and Papa always let me come when we go to the airport… this time it was for Dave & Deb!

They were happy to see me… and Nana and Papa!

The next night we went out for dinner!

Nana had fish!
Dave had fajita’s… Yumm!

One day we decided to take a little trip to Conkal to see the town and hope to find the casa where Dave stayed many years ago when he was here with his friend Raul, the baseball player. We didn’t find it but had a great time visiting the church and the square.

Conkal Church
We had snacks at the Genesis “Snacks and Coffe” shop!
The owner and her family really liked me!
Deb let me have a taste of her Strawberry Milkshake!

When we left, it was like we jumped through a time warp, because less than 20 minutes later we parked outside the AltaBrisa Mall in Merida!

Yippee!!! Shopping!!!
It was really big! Papa said it was real expensive too!!!
I wasn’t allowed to go into the Arcade! 🙁
They even had a KFC in the food court!

After we were done in the Mall, we walked across the parking lot to the Boston’s which is like Boston Pizza but Mexican.

Nana let me sip her Margarita! Just a sip, though!
Dave & Deb had Cactus Chip Nachos… I had a little bite!
Nana gave me a bite of her pizza too!
Oh no! Now my tummy hurts! Can we go home?

Not to worry, HelpMe! HelpMe! was alright after she rested at home!

Watch for her next blog post, when she went to the San Crisanto mangroves!

Love,

Nana and Papa

Nana & Papa, Tia Val & Tio George, Don & Michelle and I went to the Technotel Hotel for Valentine’s Dinner! They tell me the food was excellent!

Our table… we were inside cuz it was very windy!
Every table had a special menu for the night!

Nana and Papa

HelpMe! HelpMe!-Blog Post #6 “HelpMe! HelpMe! goes to the Beach!”

Every day, HelpMe! HelpMe! begs to go to the beach, but we were a little worried to let her go alone!

Today, we relented… just goes to prove Nana and Papa know best!

Checklist:

  • Suntan Lotion
  • Towel
  • Insect Repellent

… insect repellent… bah… won’t need that!!!

Ah… gentle breezes… lot’s of sun…

…scritch, scritch, scritch… Hmmm, strange noise!

…scritch, scritch, scritch… Hmmm, what is that noise!

…scritch, scritch, scritch… Aaaaah! HelpMe! HelpMe!

Not to worry… HelpMe! HelpMe! escaped without a sting because of Papa’s quick action!

However, the picture of the scorpion is real… our neighbour found it on her patio the other day!

The scorpion attack was staged with the talents of Kent Wong, good friend of George and Val!

And, yes, Jack, we know that a scorpion is part of the arachnid family and is not an insect! 🙂

They took me with them on the trip to Celestun too!

I wanted to go for a boat ride, but Papa said later!
We had lunch on the beach at Celestun
HelpMe! HelpMe! Heh, heh!
Finally, we’re going to see the flamingos!
Nana helped me see!
So many flamingos! You need to check out Papa’s other blog to see more, though!
Lookit the Ibis, lookit the Ibis!

Yesterday, we went to see Dzibilchaltun, the ruins of a large Mayan city, about a 1/2 hour drive from Uaymitun.

Hey, guys! Wait for me!
I love the flowers here!
Looks like I have a big Mayan cousin!!!

HelpMe! HelpMe!-Blog Post #4 “HelpMe! HelpMe! makes dinner!”

Dear blogophiles,

Today, HelpMe! HelpMe! shows how to make dinner in Uaymitun in 10 easy steps…

1. Engage eager minions to help prepare the meal and supply wine!
2. Bring 3L of pure water (salted) to a boil.
3. Heat and frequently stir your favourite pasta sauce.
4. Pan fry 1Kg of ground sirloin (nothing but the best)!
5. Select the best Penne (and perhaps a Tequila shot).
6. Grate some delicious cheese (Gouda here).
7. Prepare some nummy garlic cheese toast for the broiler.
8. Pour some fine Chilean Merlot.
9. Hola! Dinner is served!
10. Don’t forget dessert…
Vainilla Helados with Mermelado Fresas!

HelpMe! HelpMe!-Blog Post #3 “Yippee!! Tia Val and Tio George are here!!!”

After much discussion, HelpMe! HelpMe! is going to ‘produce’ this blog post… for better or worse!

Tuesday was the day that Tia (Aunt) Val and Tio (Uncle) George arrived, but not until after 9 that night! Way past my bedtime and Nana and Papa’s too!

Waiting, waiting, waiting… and they wouldn’t let me have a hamburguesa con queso at the Merida Aeropuerto BK! 🙁

They’re here, they’re here!

Here’s me and my favourite tía y tío posing in front of the Merida Jaguar at the airport.

We always enjoy our morning coffee by the pool!

Of course, we needed to pick up a few things, but we stopped on the Malecon in Progreso for some lunch first… Nana’s sharing her Margarita!

I’m with Papa… we like the Salbutes the best!

Lookit! Lookit! Wildlife in the empty lot beside the Bodega!

Today, Tia Val absolutely needed to have her hair cut, so we went into Chicxulub to La Casa de Gaby (although there was no official sign or anything).

More waiting… I hate waiting… and Papa wouldn’t even let me play on the playground equipment! Said it was for kids only! Can’t he see the dog in there!!!

To pass the time we went to the Chicxulub pier, but it was pretty quiet as the wind was very strong today!

Finally Tia Val had her hair finished…

… and Tio George treated us to Helados (Ice Cream)! Tia Val and I love the Vanilla!

Keep a watch out for the next episode of HelpMe! HelpMe!’s Mexican adventure!

HelpMe! HelpMe!-Blog Post #2 “HelpMe! HelpMe! has an outing!”

It’s Monday and it’s time for HelpMe! HelpMe!’s first official outing! We’re going shopping and someone is very excited about getting out of the house!

Our first stop was to the Lavanderia in Chicxulub where your laundry gets charged by the Kilo.

Then we stopped next door at the Mercado to pick up some peppers and sour oranges from Jose.

Then, onto the Bodega Aurrera in Progreso…

…and you thought it was hard shopping with kids!

She was insistent on getting the cow paper towels!

Back home now and relaxing by the pool… someone is trying to pilfer some of the “Hot Nuts”!

It was a beautiful day, so naturally someone wanted to go swimming too!

Two tired kitties… so to speak!

Be sure to tune in again for the further adventures of HelpMe! HelpMe! in Uaymitun!

Tomorrow, she’s going to the airport to pick up her Aunt Val and Uncle George!
