Uaymitun 2020-Blog Post #9 “Family and Friends!”

This blog post is about spending time with family and friends!

But first… just some stuff that makes our time here memorable!

Sunrise on another gorgeous day!
These morning meetings are getting me worried!
Buying Cochinita from an actual “Hole in the Wall” place on a Sunday morning to make Pulled Pork!
Sharks! What sharks! Not in Chicxulub!
Courtesy of Google Maps Street View… a car wash in Progreso!
Our car is in for an inside/outside wash, vacuum and wax…
… and the finished product for 150 pesos or about $10!
Comida China in Progreso has remade itself… at least from the outside!
Maybe a light lunch…
… somewhere!

It was a real joy to be able to spend time with Bill and Selena while they were visiting! Some highlights!

Un selfie para 4, por favor!
Love them Costco Mozza Sticks!
Words aren’t necessary!
Great memories from 2012…
… and 2020!

We were happy to arrange an afternoon with them at the Faces Jam Session!

Veggies for all!

Before Bill and Selena returned home, the 6 of us drove into Centro for dinner and a walkabout!

One of our favourite restaurants in Merida, Amaro!
Fabulous food and great ambiance!
Our artist at work!
Cafe Maya…
… and Guanabana Helado!
Amaro always has interesting local art on display…
… and frequently live music!

After dinner we went for a walk around the Plaza Grande to take in the evening sights! We weren’t disappointed!

The Cathedral was displaying a light show!…
… that we only caught a portion of…
… which ended like this!
The Governor’s Palace
The Clock Tower
Casa Montejo
University of the Yucatan
Some of the restaurants to be found in…
… Santa Lucia Park!

We were also fortunate enough to spend time with our Uaymitun friends, too!

Sunset on the Beach with new neighbours Jenn & Tom!
Likewise at FACES!
Sunset with Greg, Anne, Ann, Elaine, Ellen, Terry, Greg and I… Bill was sick!
Great reverse view… thanks, Tom!
Unforgettable!
Greg from Caledonia (Bass) and Greg from Connecticut (Drums)
First visit to a new establishment by the Chicxulub Pier!
Good food and great music!

That’s a wrap for this blog post! Next issue will highlight an event in Yucalpeten!!

Cheers!

Love to all,

-Doug and Elaine
